Bakersfield Harvest of Hope
Since we first began responding and adapting to COVID‑19 last March, Catholic Charities let care drive our decision‑making: care for our clients, our staff, our volunteers and our community. That meant growing and expanding beyond our existing programs and services in order to continue helping families during their greatest times of need. It meant serving over 80,000 men, women and children last year and a 44% increase in the need for emergency food assistance. It meant stepping up in new ways to support the most impoverished areas of Kern County, filling service gaps and reaching those who could not reach us.
“Consider how precious a soul must be, when both God and the devil are after it.”
This statement rang true this past year as we witnessed so many families walk through some of their darkest hours. But by the grace of God, Catholic Charities remains in existence to care for all the souls of Kern County, to walk with these families on their journey by providing care, comfort, and most of all hope. That’s what makes Catholic Charities so special, it’s what makes Catholic Charities a place where miracles happen every day.
Today we join our community ready to heal. Ready to look toward the future with great positivity and ready to embrace the challenge of caring for those most vulnerable. The need is greater than ever before. The time is now.
Please join us for an in-person Harvest of Hope gathering on November 3rd, 2021, as we come together to celebrate the HOPE that exists only through your support.
