Our Services
Catholic Charities Diocese of Fresno is a Community Benefit Organization serving the needs of those in need. With sites in Fresno, Merced and Bakersfield, social services provided by Catholic Charities consist of multiple components that assist individuals primarily in crisis situations and in times of difficult transitions.
We are the first responders in helping our neighbors with food, clothing, basic necessities and emergency assistance regardless of age, race or beliefs.
Eligibility
We are the first responders to those in crisis. Eligibility determination is intended to clear the path for our clients to receive food, clothing and other assistance. To determine eligibility, we reference the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), which is a measure of income issued every year by the Department of Health and Human Services, and ask that you provide us with a copy of the following documents. Documents provided must be dated within the last 30 days every time you visit us for service and include:
1. Proof of Identification for all adults over 18 in the home:
- State Issued ID
- Drivers License
- Immigration Card
- UFW ID
- State CDC Parole Card
- Receipt from DMV-ID or Drivers License
- Prison or Jail Release Paperwork
- Referral Letter from Social Service Agencies: Verifying the identity of the person being referred
- Undocumented Workers Check Cashing Identification Card
For Children under 18 in the home:
- Birth Certificate
- Medi-Cal Card (BIC)
- WIZ printouts family verification, not proof of income
2. Proof of Address
- PG&E Bill
- SSI Letter
- Notice of Action
- Lease/Rental Agreement
- Utility Bill
- Bank Statement
- Referral Letter from Social Service Agencies: Letter must provide verification of the person’s address
3. Proof of Income
- Most Recent Check Stub
- SSI Letter
- Bank Statement
- Notice of Action
- Unemployment Print Out
- Disability Award Notice
- TANF Notice
- Referral Letter from Social Service Agencies: Letter must state income verification
If you do not have any income, you should call EDD at 1-800-300-5616 and request an income verification printout.
